The Divine Transcendence and the Immanence of Law. On the Egyptian Themes in Philo's of Alexandria "On the Creation of the Cosmos according to Moses"

Niniejsza praca prezentuje analizę porównawczą wybranych fragmentów O stworzeniu świata Filona z Aleksandrii i dzieł starożytnych Egipcjan, w szczególności opowieści kosmogonicznych. Badania przeprowadzone zostały w perspektywie Nowego Historycyzmu, z uwzględnieniem szczegółowych informacji o kontekście historyczno-społecznym, w którym powstawały dzieła Filona. Rozważania te stanowią próbę zapełnienia luki, jaka powstała w wiedzy o historii myśli na skutek konsekwentnego pomijania tradycji egipskiej i jej związków z filozofią. Wobec tego zostały w niej wskazane wątki, które, jak można przypuszczać, łączą filozofię Filona Aleksandryjskiego z refleksją rzekomo niefilozoficzną, rozwijaną na terenach dawnego państwa faraonów. Szczególny nacisk położono na analizę zagadnienia, które przez badaczy uważane jest za oryginalny pomysł Filona lub koncept pozostający pod wpływem nieznanych doktryn, a które określić można jako problem transcendencji Boga i immanencji Prawa. Oś pracy stanowi argumentacja na rzecz tezy o egipskim pochodzeniu rozwiązania, jakie dla tego problemu zaproponował Filon i za pomocą którego starał się pogodzić monoteistyczną religię judaistyczną z filozofią platoników i stoików.This paper presents a comparative analysis of selected fragments of De Opificio Mundi written by Philo of Alexandria and works of ancient Egyptians, in particular stories about creation of the world. The research was carried out in the perspective of New Historicism, and included detailed information on the historical and social context in which the works of Philo were written. These considerations are an attempt to fill the gap that arose in the knowledge of the history of thought as a result of the consistent omission of the Egyptian tradition and its relationship with philosophy. Therefore, the author of this paper had indicated the threads, which, as might be supposed, link the philosophy of Philo of Alexandria with allegedly non-philosophical reflection, developed in the territories of the former state of the pharaohs. Particular emphasis was placed on the analysis of the issue, which is regarded by researchers as the original Philo’s idea or a concept that is result of influences of unknown doctrines, and which can be pointed as the problem of God's transcendence and the immanence of the Law. The main point of the work is the argumentation for the thesis about the Egyptian origins of the solution proposed by Philo for this problem and by which he tried to reconcile the monotheistic religion of Judaism with the philosophy of Platonists and Stoics
